Multi-Scale Fractal Characteristics of the Pore System in Low-Permeability Conglomerates from the Junggar Basin

The pore structure and its complexity play a critical role in fluid migration recovery efficiency. Multiple types, broad size distribution (PSD), extremely irregular morphology hinder the comprehensive investigation of systems their low-permeability conglomerates. In this study, multi-scale system fractal characteristics Permian Lower Wuerhe Formation Triassic Baikouquan conglomerates from Junggar Basin were investigated, combining physical property analysis, casting thin sections, scanning electron microscopy, Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). results show that consists residual intergranular pores (RIPs), dissolution (DPs), clay-related (CRPs), microfractures. Three types PSD identified according to shape T2 spectrum. Based on derived NMR data, divided into macropores (mainly RIPs DPs), mesopores CRPs), micropores (reflect adsorption spaces). dimension (D3) increases with increase clay mineral content decrease contents quartz feldspar. Moreover, volume decreases addition, dimensions volumes have no obvious relationship composition. D3 macropore control properties mobility T2,gm shows strong negative correlation volume. Meanwhile, high value would reduce macropores. These demonstrate is good indicator reveal quality
